    Notes
    • “The many friends of Mrs. Lilian Florence Baker Jennings were surprised Sunday morning to hear of her death,
which occured at her home 309 Benson avenue, at 3:30 a.m.

Mrs. Jennings was born in New York, where she was known as Lilian Florence Baker. Feb. 26 (20), 1880 (77)
she was married, at Kankakee, Ill., to Mr. S.A. Jennings and came to Evanston to reside. She had been a member of
the Baptist church for years and was a woman well liked by everyone. She was a friend to all the afflicted and
was especially exemplary in her home life. She leaves a husband and a little 7 year old daughter Gertrude, who
deeply mourn her loss. The sympathy of all is extended to this bereaved family in their great affliction. Funeral
services were held at her late home Tuesday morning and were conducted by the Rev. N.H. Whttlesey and Rev. H.A.
Delano. The services were touching and the pastors spoke tenderly of the life of the dead. The pall beareres
were Dr. H. A. Freeman, Mr. Porter, George H. Siddell, J.L. Bray, Charles Strickland and S.A. Coble. The body
was taken to Rose hill for interment. Mr. S.A. Jennings desires to extend his thanks to the neighbors and
friends who lent their kindly aid during his affliction.”
