Birth and death records list Sophia as "oägta" which means illegitimate. This would correspond with her birth date as she was born 8 years after the death of Anders Engelbrektsson, thus, not his daughter. No records have been found which state's Sophia's father's name.

Birth record states Sophia is "oägta" (illegitmate) being born to widowed Britta Bryngelsdotter of Solberga, Öfre Skattegården. Britta is listed as being 44 years old at Sophia's birth. The witnesses are listed as Hans Andersson of Solberga Öfre, and widow Annicka Olofssdotter of Ullstorp (possible misspelling). Sophia is shown on the 1841-1846 household examinations for the Fors parish in Älvsborg county (page 123) living at Öfre Skattegården in the village Solberga. She is listed as an illegitmate daughter. GID: 728.9.31000

Death record states Sofia (spelled with an "f" and not "ph") is an "oägta dotter" (illegitmate daughter) being born to widowed Britta Bryngelsdotter of Solberga, Öfre. Sophia is listed as dying of "svaghet" (weakness). (Death record is on page 454 of the 1800-1861 Fors, Älvsborg Births, Marriages, and Deaths book.) GID: 728.4.14600
