The 15th of September, our newly appointed President Elder Jensson arrived. Elder Dufvander was released. The 24th, in the police court to listen to a letter from the Chancellor of Justice. Doctor Wieselgren was snooping around to see if I was holding any meetings. On the 25th, Samuel Backman was baptized, and my sister came to the meeting. She said she liked our teachings.

The 4th of November, I left for Lilla Edet to visit relatives. The 6th, out all day amongst the people selling books and tracts. On the 11th, I went back to Göteborg. Elder N. Thoresson arrived from Denmark to labor here. The 16th, I was again in the police court to listen to the report from the Chancellor of Justice. Priesthood meeting in the evening when S. C. Svensson was ordained to a Deacon. The 18th, in police court again to listen again to the previous report. The 29th, A. Backman was baptized. The 3rd of December, I took very sick with a high fever. On the 6th, Elders Berntsson and Johansson came to administer to me and the fever left me. I was healed almost the same hour healed by the power of God. The 9th, S. C. Svensson ordained to the office of Priest in the Church, Johan Ludvig Gustafsson was ordained to Deacon. On the 15th, Elder Wretberg and I left for the city of Falkenberg to attend conference meetings, traveled 2 ½ Swedish miles to the city Kungsbacka where we stopped for the night, sold some books, had prayer with the people in the evening, they were good people. The 16th, walked to Nybro and obtained lodging, could not engage in prayer with the folks.

The 17th, we arrived in Falkenberg. A Brother C. J. Anderson received us very kindly. Conference was held in his home. The home was very cozy and comfortable and I almost cried for joy. The 18th, the first meeting was held, I was so overcome with joy that I had to cry. The 19th, in company with Elders Johanson, Wretberg and Thoresson, we started back to Göteborg, walked not very far that day. ½ mile south of the city of Varberg we obtained lodging, but had a poor bed that night. The 20th, continued our travel to within one mile south of Kungsbacka, very good bed that night, arrived in Göteborg on the 21st of December 1857. The 4th of February 1858, Brother Gustafsson on his own request was cut of from the church. The 26th of March, our complaints arrived from the Supreme Court, no change in judgment. The 28th, I was called to fill the office of Secretary of the conference. The 29th, I left by ship from Norway for the city of Copenhagen to attend a conference there. The wind was against us too. The 2nd of May, on the Elfsborg Ford, arrived in Helsingborg on the 4th of May. On the 11th of May, the general meeting started in Copenhagen in a hired hall called "Colaseum", big meetings held. The 15th, priesthood meeting in the city of Copenhagen. The 17th, left for the city of Halmstad in Sweden with the Steamship "Vikingen". The 18th, arrived in Göteborg. The 23rd, my daughter Hulda and I left for Sjuntorp to visit my brother. The 25th, back to Göteborg. The 26th, Elder Johansson came from the jail, he had served 14 days on water and bread for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The 7th of October, President Asa Calkin from Liverpool and President Widerborg of the Scandinavian mission attended a conference in Göteborg. The 9th, I walked to Ale District, bought ticket on the Steamship "Kongelf", then on the 10th I went back home. On the 12th, in company with Brother Platt on the Steamship "Western" to visit the city of Vänersborg. The 13th, to Raftorp. The 16th, to Uddevalla. The 19th, to Lilla Edet and back to Göteborg on the 20th. The year 1859, on mission in the city of Halmstad.

The year 1860 - 1st of January, attended meeting in Göteborg, left for Halmstad on the 3rd of January, walked 3 miles. On the 4th, continued to Varberg, the 5th to Morup, the 6th to Falkenberg. Arrived in Halmstad on the 7th, there I had my mission and my home. The 9th, I was home all day, several visitors called on me and I discussed the principles of the Gospel with them. The 11th, prayer meeting in the evening. On the 12th, visited a place called Tronninge, tried to distribute some tracts, no listeners and nothing was done. The 13th, I followed the seashore back to Halmstad. The 15th, at home, and held a small meeting, and a blacksmith Carl Gustaf Carlson was baptized. The 17th, I walked to a place called Mickedala, distributed several tracts, walked back home. On the 20th, left for Margretetorp and stopped there for the night. Arrived in the city of Helsingborg on the 21st. I traveled to the city of Copenhagen for business of a private nature. Left Copenhagen on the 26th, arrived in Helsingborg on the 27th, traveled via Margretetorp, to the place called Tjerby, arrived in Halmstad on the 29th. On the 3rd of February, walked to a place known as Oringe Angar, next walked back to Halmstad. The 13th, at my mission home, very hard winter. On the 17th, I set out for the city of Göteborg to visit my family, arrived at the Inn Sloinge. On the 20th walked to Morup and the same day arrived at Nordvara, continued my travel and arrived in Göteborg on the 21st, everything was well with my family. On the 18th of February 1860 my son Charles Albert was born. The 29th, I visited my brother-in-law in Ale District. The 3rd of March, I entered the jail to serve out a sentence of 75 rigsdaler, equal to about 75 dollars, for I had sold books and tracts and explaining the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On the 25th of May, I was set free after serving 3 months. I had much liberty and my wife was allowed to visit me often and brought me some food and fruit. When I came home my brother Elias and his wife visited me. I wanted him to go with me to meeting but he refused and became anger when I talked to him about religion. I had to stay at home to keep him company. I followed him to the station Jonsered where he had some friends there, but this meant nothing to me, for his friends where drinking.
