Sources about the Haderlie family's arrival in the Salt Lake Valley in 1866 with the Thomas E. Ricks Company
Source: Deseret News, 16 Aug. 1866, p. 289
Source: "First Immigration Train," Deseret News [Weekly], 30 Aug. 1866, 309.
Full Text: FIRST IMMIGRATION TRAIN.-We had the pleasure of meeting Col. T[homas]. E. Ricks on Monday, he having come into the city in advance of his train of immigrants, which camped at Grass Creek on Sunday night. The Colonel was well and hearty, and truly glad to be "home" again. His train had a very capital trip from the Missouri. There were six deaths in the company on the journey, but those who died have been much worn down by sickness before starting to cross the plains. Br. Ricks started back on Monday afternoon to meet his train, which was hourly expected as we went to press.
The following are the names of those who died: Benjamin Meek, from Weston, Herefordshire, England; Susannah Cook, from Throckmorton, Worcestershire; Mary J. Cunnington, from Oakham, Rutlandshire; Sarah Jane, infant daughter of W[illiam]. L[eigh]. and M[argaret]. [Williams] Walters, from Llanelly, Wales; Hannah and Caroline, the one 6 years and the other 3 months old, daughters of [John] Ulrich and Hannah [Anna Elizabeth] Haderlie, from Zurich, Switzerland. | HADERLIE, Louisa (I1573)

Story/Info from grandaughter Berit (email correspondence 24 Feb 2021):
Translated Email:
My father Håkon Arthur Bakke was a war sailor. Likewise was Charles Urban Frank. In the winter of 1943 my father visited a bar in London. There he overheard some Swedish bar guests calling the name of Charles Urban (not exactly a normal name). My father went over to them and asked if he had a daughter in Norway called Marit. This was confirmed and he was then told that Charles also had a grandchild (which was me).
Charles Urban broke off all contact with his two daughters Marit and Edith after the girls mother Thora died in 1930. Although Charles had a wife (Olga) who lived in by Tønsberg, Marit and Edith never saw their father again. Marit and Edith lived with their aunt Karen Johansen – Thora´s sister.
We know that Charles Urban had problems with the authorities and did not receive permanent permit of residence in Norway.

The following articles were found in the “Davis County Clipper” about James Hepworth.
- A Tribute to James Hepworth On His 85th Birthday -
What a privilege to live
To be old as a tree,
A well-spent life conscience clear,
Traveling on to Eternity.
We all come here, a mission to fill
And Uncle Jim has done it well
He is leaving behind a score or more,
Children as numerous as sands on the shore.
There is no greater monument
That man can build on earth
He struggled hard and kept the faith
Since the morning of his birth.
And so today at eighty fifth
We lay our garlands at his feet
Uncle Jim, hold up your head,
Your life has been complete.
~Lavina Mann Argyle
